Know about various steps that are needed in order to apply for a new pan card

PAN card or the Permanent Account Number of used in India mainly for purposes of taxation.  But now people who are not in the tax slab are also applying for the PAN card for identification. This increase in the demand for PAN card has made the officials come up with a simple procedure to obtain the card. There was a time when PAN card was obtained through agents, but now you can directly apply for it.

The process of application for PAN card is simple, easy and user-friendly. By following the provided steps and guidelines you can easily apply for your PAN card and receive it on time.

1.      You have to visit the website of Income Tax Pan Services Unit at http://tin.tin.nsdl.com/pan/or also to the site india.gov.in/apply-online-new-pan-card.

2.      Here you will get a number of choices like to apply for a new PAN, tracking of your applied PAN, reprint of your card and many others. Click on the option that is to apply for a new PAN.

3.      If you are applying for a new PAN, you also need to fill in form 49A. You can easily fill in your form 49A online by visiting the page https://tin.tin.nsdl.com/pan2/servlet/NewPanApp. After you have filled up this form and have submitted it online, you will get an acknowledgement form that will show up a 10 digit number. You should save this acknowledgment and also should take a print out of it for your reference.

4.      Now you have to send the acknowledgement form to the IT department along with some documents such as your address proof and your identity proof. Your name and other details mentioned on the form 49A should be same that is there in your documents.

5.      In the acknowledgement form, there is a place for fixing your photographs. Your photographs that you are fixing in this space must be colored and also recent because this photo will also appear in your PAN card. Put signatures in the form wherever it is indicated.

6.      For the application of PAN card, a minor amount of Rs 105+tax is required that can be paid using various modes such as demand draft, cheque, debit card, credit card or internet banking. If you wish to pay the amount through debit card, credit card or internet banking, then you have to pay while filling the form online. Somehow if the communications address is outside India, then this particular amount raises up to Rs. 962 that can be only paid through demand draft.

7.      Make sure that your acknowledgment form along with your photographs, payment and other documents should reach Pune NSDL in 15 days time from when you have done your online application. You should mention the words ‘APPLICATION FOR PAN – Acknowledgment Number’ on the envelope in which you are sending all these documents.

After the NSDL has received the payment, the processing of your application will soon start. The steps of the procedure are self-explanatory and so you do not need any agent for the same. You can also track your PAN through sending an SMS with NSDLPAN, and then space and then your Acknowledgment to 57575.
